Winter Velvet {SHOOT}

Winter Velvet

Weddings are beautiful whatever the weather. Something magical happens on a rainy wedding day. Everyone huddles, it forces people to talk. Especially as us Brits LOVE to discuss the weather. Rain, also somehow centres the mind, we focus on the event that’s about to happen and listen intently. I find something incredibly romantic about the light with the dancing shadows by candle light, the warm glow that lights the room.  It takes an incredible photographer to work the shadows and capture the light just right.

The Table was a real focus for us, the solid polished table, with the softness of the linen and height and depth of flowers. All in the most incredible entrance hall, draped with the staircase swirling around the table. Flickering candles creating the most beautiful setting. I wanted to pull up a chair and eat divine food with the most incredible cocktails. The Table was a collaboration of the most fabulous suppliers and minds. The Flowers were created by the incredibly talented Jen, from Jennifer Poynter Flowers  Jen arrived with a van full of, flowers, foliage, trinkets, tools, vases, candle sticks and complimenting candles of every shape and colour, bringing our vision together. Carol from Laurel Designs, provided the stationery and props, like the hanging table plan, that coordinated and created a theme that would run though out the day, of blue tones with a hint of blush.

Would you think to have a bespoke cocktail made just for your day? This incredible house has its own Orchards supplying Apples to make the most incredible apple juice. I sent a case of the apple juice to Josh at NJAC Event Bars where he used his magic mixology skills to create not one, but many cocktails, to compliment the day. Using different spirits. So if like me (and only me it would appear) you don’t like Gin, you could have the vodka based cocktail or Rum, And for everyone else, the magical Gin Cocktail, made with Hill Farm Juice Josh made the cocktails in the Drawing room, showing us how its done! He’d bring the show to any party or bar!

Lisa & James, Our Bride and Groom, Were such a lovely couple. A real life Husband and Wife and a joy to be around. Their chemistry was so warm and true.

Lisa’s gown by Sassi Holford, was absolutely stunning, the lace detail was exquisite. The Wonderful boutique Brides of Winchester provided Lisa’s gown. Her fiery red hair was such a Joy to style, I love working with red hair, it really is like no other. Hair by Riot Hairdressing and her make up was by the amazing Evie at Made Up. Evie Explains, Weddings in the cooler months call for warmer tones, we love gentle iridescent coppery colours for eyes and apricot tones for cheeks.  To take on this slightly bolder look perfected skin is a must-do, radiance-boosting bases and skin illuminators in subtle golds and soft cheekbone sculpting with matte bronzer will do the trick.  Lash definition is up there on every bride’s wish-list, we use individual lash extensions to make the eyes appear brighter and more wide awake. The final touch is to showcase a beautiful smile with a warmrosy-matte or cream-sheen lip.  Glowing perfection for a wintery wedding.

We had a Cake for the occasion… Who doesn’t have cake on their Wedding day? Cesca from The Gillespie Cake Company, made this bespoke cake with a blue and grey marble effect that gives that crisp frost feeling with a touch of winter elegance. The rope symbolises that loving knot that has been tied between the two persons present and the final touches include some subtile blush pink roses adding some more colour depth to a lovely winters scene. Cake perfection!

Hair Sparkles and bespoke earrings to compliment Lisa’s red hair, by the very talented Tracy at White Designs. The circlet and the velvet ribbon looked amazing against her hair. Also a cute ‘something blue’

And of course, Thankyou to our photographer Jason, who plays with light. It was such a pleasure to work with Jason, one of the most easy going guys, Natural Light, dark and moody moments and story telling at its finest!
